About the farm:
Bianzhu is the first certified organic coffee farm in Panama. Perched on the slopes of the Volcán Barú mountain, this misty plateau has become the highest plant in Central South America. The average annual rainfall is around 3500mm. Despite the showers that are usually distributed from April to August, the farm is also often affected by the Pacific wind from January to April. This unique climate feature which makes the coffee trees growing in these 5 dry-months (from November to March), become the perfect drying period.
The special feature of the farm is that no water is used in the coffee processing process. The products are processed on-site with honey and natural methods and dried on a rig in Africa. High standard of process with a great climate, make Bianzhu farm an annual winner of BOP
The origin of name:
Graciano Cruz, the farm owner, has grown a majority of small bamboos on the farm/manor. In just 1 month, its leaves will dry and decompose into humus (2-3 months faster than other plants), which can give coffee plants full nutrients.
